About Jennifer

Still learning.
Still laughing.
Still grateful.

I’m Jennifer Lambert, an elementary principal, former classroom teacher, and longtime online instructor.

I have the privilege of working alongside educators, families, students, and district colleagues who care deeply about schools and the people inside them. Their generosity, creativity, and humor continually remind me that leadership is never a solo act.

The Joyful Principal is not a claim that I have school leadership figured out. It is a place to notice what is good, share ideas that may help, and tell the truth about the wonderfully unpredictable work of leading a school.

Many of my favorite practices began with an idea I saw somewhere else. The leadership move is often not inventing something new. It is recognizing a good idea, trying it, adapting it for your community, and following through.

I believe joy can coexist with grief, pressure, and hard decisions. It does not ask us to ignore the heavy moments. It helps us stay open to the connection, gratitude, perspective, and occasional absurdity that can be found inside them.

This is a beginning: a few notes, a few stories, and a reminder that the smallest moments are often doing more work than we realize.
